Question:

Your company is facing the following crisis:

An investigative journalist has just published an article in the New York Times about your firm maintaining that your products and services are seriously defective. The origin of the defect concerns management practices whereby, at certain steps in the development and manufacturing process, your firm uses undeclared (and illegal) labor arrangements in Russia to complete several tasks. The work being done by the illegal Russian workforce is substandard and is potentially against US regulations, depending upon the processes/ingredients used. You are apparently one of several firms implicated in this illegal practice. It apparently is true that your firm subcontracts work out of the country and potentially to workers in Russia. The former COO has recently left the company and is unavailable for comment. He was the individual who negotiated for the subcontracting of the work.

Group Assignment:

Develop two very different possible scenarios for the next phase in this crisis (one positive, one negative, for example). (I only need to develop the positive scenario.) Anticipate the specifics of what is likely to happen, write it down and provide adequate description of the chain of events. Each scenario should be no more than 2 pages long, double-spaced. Once the two scenarios are written down, now plan out your firm’s response. Write out two versions of your CEO’s press conference speech encapsulating the firm’s response to each scenario. Each CEO speech should be no more than one page long, double-spaced. (Again, I only need a to develop a press conference for the positive scenario.)
