Once you have developed your rubric, you will pretend that you are evaluating a student’s writing, and you will use your rubric to evaluate the writing and provide feedback for the student. Student assignment Write a story about an adventure you have taken with a friend or family member; it could be real or imaginary. Make sure to include a beginning, middle, and end to your story , and use transitions to move the story along . Include dialogue in your story. Rememb er to use good descriptions to help us see, hear, and feel what is happening. Your story should be written neatly in your writing journal and be 2 or more pages. To complete the assignment, follow the steps below. 1. Review the standard and unpack it. 2. Review the student assignment. 3. Determine the criteria you will use to create a rubric that aligns with the standard and the student assignment. 4. Develop the rubric using the following components a. five criteria b. four proficiency levels with titles and numerical values c. objective language to describe the criteria at each scoring level (avoid ‘some,’ ‘sometimes,’ ‘usu ally,’ ‘almost,’ ‘few,’ etc.; try to quantify wherever possible) d. a scoring column e. space for detailed, individualized feedback 5. After you have developed the rubric, copy and paste the rubric onto a new page within the same document. I liked that you included The Louisiana Purchase; the expansion of our country is definitely significant. You were a few short of the required fifteen events. Remember you can always come to me or another teacher if you are struggling and need help. I would have liked to have seen some more details such as different colors and extras to give the timeline more appeal. Also, part of your planning sheet was blank, so I could not give full credit for that part. Overall, you did a good job!
