Question A Art and Protest in the 1800s

Please respond to each of the following questions, using on line sources:

1.Cite several lines from a Romantic poet/poem in our text and then find a landscape painting by Constable or Turner from this time period you think might illustrate those lines. Consider poems from Keats, Shelley, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Bryon, or William Blake.

2.Listen to one (1) composition (i.e., for a symphony) by Beethoven. How would this music fit into one of your favorite computer games? Give us some details about the game and why you like to play it. Here is a link that describes 15 great video game music scores (is your game on this list?) http://www.classicfm.com/discover-music/periods-ge…

The Beethoven-HausWebsite at http://www.beethoven-haus-bonn.de/sixcms/detail.php?template=portal_en (Note: Click on Digital Archives > Works by Ludwig vonBeethoven; then find one [1] of his symphonies and listen to a clip.

Respond to classmate whether you agree or disagree with their post:

Poem: The Rainbow was written by Wordsworth in 1802. My heart leaps up when I behold A rainbow in the sky: So was it when my life began, So is it now I am a man, So be it when I shall grow old, Or let me die! The child is the father of the man; And I could wish my days to be Bound each to each by natural piety. Woodsworth’s use of the rainbow was to represent his life from childhood to old age and his quest for unity of self.

Constable actually copied Woodworth’s poem into his notebook. In the painting the rainbow is a symbol of the connection between himself and nature. I chose this poem and painting because I love the symbolism behind them and the fact that a rainbow can have different meanings for people. I chose Beethoven’s Symphony #5. I do not play computer games however, I think it would be a good piece because the beginning makes me think of a character that is distraught and frantically looking for something and then they find it or a clue to finding what they seek maybe. I chose it just because I enjoy it and I am not one to listen to classical music. This is one of the few symphonies that I will listen to.

Question B This is a case study that’s attached. Based on the case study Age Discrimination in a Promotion (Pg. 83 – Pg. 85), identify three (3) considerations that the Best Protection Insurance Company (BPIC) could include in the promotional process that it utilized to avoid future legal issues. Provide support for your rationale.

Respond to classmate whether you agree or disagree with their post: Based on the case study, three considerations the BPIC could include in the promotional process to avoid future legal issues are listed below:

1. Ensure there is an official internal job posting that includes the job requirements in which current associates can apply. 2. Consult from the candidates immediate supervisor should be considered, as well as the candidates performance appraisals, and other history. 3. Consider utilizing the HR department to help with the selection process to ensure the process is fair and there aren’t any conflicts of interest present.

My rationale for the above considerations is those items could have prevented any legal issues. Even if the internal candidates were not selected, they would have more of a leg to stand on regarding their processes. In my opinion, the company set itself up for legal issues by not having any supporting evidence to back the claim that the applicant was not qualified, however there was evidence that supported him being qualified for the position. There was no choice but to assume the reason was due to his age.
