describe the process of vision starting from the object, through the eye, and all the way back to the visual cortex. Do not describe what happens after the visual cortex, just from the object to the visual cortex. Make sure to include all relevant structures and what they are for.

2. Watch the MiniLecture on Top-Down Bottom-Up Processing on Module 2 of Canvas first. If
you can, use yourself and one or two other people outside of class as
participants (remember to socially distance and ask only people who are
in your home or that you can have do this online through email or some
other method). Each of you look at the picture below without talking to
each other. Each of you write what you see in the picture. Collect these
descriptions and attach them to the assignment. Look at the
descriptions and write down which parts seem to be using top-down
processing (using past experience, etc.) and which are purely bottom-up
processes (looking at colors and shapes only). What is the purpose of
top-down processing?

3. Choose two of the object recognition models discussed
in class. Imagine being able to identify a dog. How would each of the
models you chose describe how you were able to recognize that the animal
is a dog? Which one of those models do you think does the best job at
explaining this ability and why do you think it is the best?

4. Ch. 3 in the textbook discusses things like linear
perspective and illusions such as the Ponzo Illusion. Explain these
issues using the concepts of top-down and bottom-up processing. Answer
question 3.7 on page 57.
