Summary of the article:
Is the Knowledge Level of Coronary Heart Disease and Risk Factors among Post-Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Patients Adequate?
I discovered that the article is about the level of knowledge and risks of coronary heart disease. Very few people understand Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (Nolan & McGee, 2016). Without this information, patients need to understand the various risk factors they may get exposed to and how to get proper care from health institutions preventing the occurrence of a coronary event.
With this information, it becomes the obligation of the nurse to ensure that the patients are aware of the various methods of intervening against CHD and preventing future re-occurrences. For the nursing care of patients, this will be especially important in managing CHD through the post-percutaneous coronary intervention. As a registered nurse, I will educate my patients with CHD post procedure on life-style changes such as a low sodium, low fat diet, exercise, medication regime, and how to recognize and report important signs and symptoms of complications to the healthcare worker.
