The Case Study Each student will be assigned one of twelve cases f ound on page 231, of the text, and will be expected to submit a 5-8-page written Case Study due in Unit Seven . While there is no specific format for the Case Study, each paper should: (1) Identify all the pertinent issues that management needs to address; (2) perform whatever analysis and evaluation are ap propriate; (3) propose an action plan and set of recommendations addressing the issues identified in (1); and (4) include the application of biblical principles to the analysis. CAPSIM Simulation Each student will be organized into a team/company of 3-5 students to play the Foundations Simulation computer game from CAPSIM Management Simulations. T he Computer Game Performance grade will be based on three factors: (1) the performance of e ach team in Selected Statistics for each competition round (i.e. Sales, Profits, Stock Price, Total Asse ts, Market Share, etc.); (2) the Analyst Report whi ch evaluates the company in ten categories of manageme nt performance; and (3) the Balanced Scorecard Industry Percentile which compares each team with all other teams globally, who are playing this game. Summary of Assignments Writing Assignments Writing assignments must be APA compliant and include a title page, appropriate citations, and references. The professor will post Unit Assignments on the first d ay of each unit. Assignments are due no later than 11:59 p.m. (CT) on Saturday. Earlier submissions are encouraged. Discussion Questions The professor will post discussion questions on the first day of each weekly unit. You should respond to the initial discussion questions no later than 11:59 p.m. (CT) each subsequent Wednesday. Responses to classmate’s discussion questions are due Saturday at 11:59 p.m. for each unit. Early postings are encouraged. Initial discussion question responses must be a mi nimum of 250 words each. When indicated, a response to a classmate must be at least 100 words. Fewer than this will automatically result in a significant reduction in one’s grade. One initial response and one response to a classmate’s posting are required for each question. You must mention the person’s name to whose comments you are responding and quote what aspect of his or her post you are addressing. BHA-401 Financial Admin of Healthcare (3 Credits) This course provides an overview of healthcare financial management from a Christian worldview; Emphasis on use of financial statements for decision-making purposes and application of financial analysis to budgeting, capital project evaluation, and contracting. Other topics include healthcare coding and billing concepts as sell as background information on the legal and regulatory environment and impact on health care delivery. BHA-402 Ethics in Health Admin (3 Credits) The course identifies ethical issues for healthcare administrators. It is designed to encourage the student to clarify their personal ethics in regard to administration issues. The various responsibilities involving the managing of populations whose ethics may be divergent are identified. A study of the Christian worldview as it is applied to leadership situations, drawing contrasts between biblically-based principles and competing worldviews through the use of case studies and articles. BHA-411 Healthcare Marketing (3 Credits) An overview of the power of marketing in meeting the organizational challenges in today’s complex health care environment, particularly managed care. This course explores the art and science of how individuals make health care purchasing choices, and the response necessary to gain market share.
