The activity will be for each of you to run a 5-7 minute session for an audience (could be classmates, friends, family, etc – minimum 1 but I think it will go better if you have more). You obviously want to highlight/employ a number of things we’ve learned about this unit within your session – communication, time management, facilitation, decision making, etc) Once you create/design your session, open a Google Meet and record yourself running the session. You are welcome to edit this recording before submitting if you really feel the need to.

Complete the following organization/brainstorming chart for your chosen activity.

What are you going to lead?

SPOONS (UNO STYLE WITH A TWIST).

Scaffold the steps/process of what you have chosen to do.

To play spoons in Uno style, you need to pick out four cards of the same number but with different colors. Shuffle the cards well and distribute four cards to each player. Start by having one player put down a card they don’t want face down, and then continue in a circle until each player has put down a card for the next player. Then, each player picks up the card and decides if they want to keep it or not. If they do, they must put down another card from their deck, and the game continues until someone has all four cards of the same number. Once a player has all four cards of the same number, they put their hand in the middle, and the last player to do so loses the round and gets a letter. Continue playing until a player has spelled out “spoons.” The player who spelled out “spoons” gets out, and the game continues until only one player remains victorious and gets the prize the group has decided on.

What is your expected/intended end result?

What prior skills/knowledge does the audience need? How will you ensure they have it OR you provide it?

What leadership style will you employ?

What leadership skills will you need?

Provide a detailed breakdown of your 5-7 minute time frame (opening, substance/body, consolidation)

What from my above answer is not necessary (ie. wastes time that I don’t have)?

How will you know if you’ve been successful?

What next steps could you leave the participants with?

How will you know if participants are engaged? What can you build in to check this?

What is the ratio of you talking vs everything else? Is this a worthwhile split?

Do you need any equipment etc? (ie. does each student need something specific)

What can the participants share at the end as an “exit ticket”?

How does your session accommodate the 3 types of learners (auditory, visual, kinesthetic)?

What protocols have you used in your session?

Exit Ticket:

You need to have something tangible/quantifiable result from your session. This can be something the participants contributed to (ie. mentimeter), individual (ie. Google Form), product (ie. picture of end result) or anything else that consolidates the learning for the session. Tell me what you have designed and include a finished example of it in your submission.
