Defend the argument from possible objections

Reading of Choice.

750-1000 words (2-3 pgs).

For this paper, you may pick any assigned reading already covered in class. You will explain a central theory/argument from that reading (that you have not written on yet), then write your own philosophical response.

Your paper should have 3 sections; clearly label when each section begins in your paper (you may do this simply with section number or section title):

i. Intro (~ ¼ page): Introduction and brief summary of your paper. (In the intro, make sure to briefly and clearly state the main points you will address in paper; for example, could look something like “Philosopher A claimed B. I will claim C, for reasons D, E, F”)

ii. Exposition (1/2+ pg): Briefly, but clearly describe a key argument or theory from the chosen reading (which you will respond to in section 3). This section should primarily be in your own words, but include at least one key quote from the chosen reading.

iii. Your Philosophical Response (1-2 pgs): (Main section, spend most of paper on this). Give your philosophical response. Make sure you stay on topic. Do so in one of the following formats (do only one of these options):

  1. Give rational objections to the argument/theory, state why it is faulty
  2. Defend the argument from possible objections
  3. Explain how the argument can be improved, how you would change it and why
  4. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses, then your overall position

W2Analysis Of Imagery: Evaluating An Artifact. VEALS

Artifact Analysis Worksheet

An artifact is something made by a human.

It can be a form of art or a form of self-expression that has meaning to you. It can be anything that a human conceived of as art and deliberately crafted.

For this assignment, you are being asked to share your artifact with your classmates. Please consider this as you select your artifact by choosing something you are comfortable sharing and avoiding potentially offensive material.

In the Learning Resources area, there is also a document on “reading” images and text. It includes many questions which can guide deeper analysis of your artifact.

Share your artifact   or a link to your artifact in the space below.

Include a   description of the artifact and include research on the background of the   artifact. For example, information about the artist involved.

*** Make sure to   cite your sources by including a list of any outsides sources of information   you are using to answer this question. Remember, research is always a good   thing as it shows effort.

What does this   artifact mean to you? Please explain.

To explore this, consider these additional questions:

How has it inspired or moved you? Has this artifact helped   make your life or the life of others better? How does it connect to your life   or to the educational journey you are starting along with your classmates?

  • Select an artifact, something that is important to you or resonates with you in some way. Make certain you have a way to share the artifact electronically. You can save the website/link to the artifact if you found it online or take a photo or scan the artifact.
  • Use the Artifact Analysis Worksheet to evaluate your artifact.
  • Use the Academic Writing Expectations (AWE) Checklist to guide your writing for each question on the workshe

Humans are art making creatures. From the evocative hunting depictions of our ancient ancestors to modern dance, humans have reacted to their environment by painting, singing, dancing, writing, and recording the things they encounter. In this week’s assignment, you will be asked to select an artifact to analyze. Make sure that you choose something that really resonates with you, but also make sure that you would not mind sharing it with the members of the class. Understand that this is an academic workspace, and select an image, poem, or song that you would be comfortable sending to the entire class. You are free to select any object that is shareable electronically with your classmates.

Evaluating a work of art requires some distance from the piece. You will be asked to analyze the artifact that you select and to describe why the piece was selected. Please choose something that you would not mind others critiquing. For example, if you select a painting that your sister painted, you might not want to have someone write that they didn’t like the subject or style. Make sure that you are comfortable with the piece being viewed and analyzed by other members of the class.

In this Assignment you will identify and analyze an artifact of your choice. The resources used in the Week 2 Notes and Readings are just a few of the options for types of media you might select as meaningful to you.

PSY 104 Week 5 Assignment ( Community Center Proposal ) ~ ( Latest Syllabus – Perfect Tutorial – Scored 100% )

Community Center Proposal: Final Project.

Your community is opening a brand new community center.  Now that you are an expert in the field, you have been chosen to lead a development team that will create a proposal for interactive, fun, and educational programming activities that will be provided for children and adolescents in this center Utilize problem-solving techniques in exploring developmental issues, grounded in child development, in order to assess what activities and items should be included in each program. Once you have chosen these features, you will present your ideas to a mock city council board (i.e. your instructor) with a written proposal describing the programming.

You have been asked to propose programming for five different age groups in the community center:

·         Infant (0-1 year)

·         Toddler (1-3 years)

·         Early Childhood (3-6 years)

·         Middle/Late Childhood (7-12 years)

·         Adolescence (13-18 years)

In your proposal, you will identify and describe at least 2 weekly activities for each age group (for a total of 10 activities) that address their developmental domain pathways: physical, cognitive, and psychosocial.  All three domains of development must be addressed within your classes or activities.  For example, you may have one activity which enhances cognitive and psychosocial development and a second activity which enhances physical development for a particular age group. In addition to identifying these activities, you will demonstrate a foundational knowledge of the age group’s developmental continuum by explaining your reasoning for choosing each activity, based on your analysis of theory and current child development research.

Additionally, you will search for at least 1 age-appropriate game, toy, picture, or other “play” item to enhance the chosen activities within each age group. Keep in mind that this may include things like art, music, technology, or safety gear as you deem fit.  For each item that you recommend, your proposal will provide a link to a website from which the item can be purchased by the city, as well as an explanation for why the city should purchase the item informed by research and theory.

The overall goal of the final project is much like that of a grant proposal, in which a developer must convince the city council that their new business or activity is both cost-effective and beneficial to the community.  You are encouraged to be creative and persuasive in your proposal, but remember that everything must be supported by the theories and research covered in our class. Included is a Community Center Proposal Template, demonstrating what information should be included in your written portion of the project.

SPECIAL NOTES:
You will utilize the PSY104 Written Proposal template to create and submit your proposal.  Enter the requested information on the title page where indicated. Where you find the text “This is where you will…” within the proposal, please remove that and enter your own content. The headings in bold and the outline formatting with numbers and letters should not be altered.

In your Community Center Proposal, you must include the following:

1.     Please complete each section of the template including the information requested.

2.     Within section “iv” for each room, you will be asked to justify your activities and items by analyzing interactions of the major themes: Health and Well-Being, Family and Parenting, Education, Culture and Gender as factors influencing the developmental physical, cognitive and psychosocial pathways.  Your written proposal must address how you have accounted for each of these themes in its associated room as they relate to physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development. Each theme must be included in at least one room, and each room must address one or more themes. (Please see these samples for ways to explain how you have accounted for this.)

3.     Cite your sources according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. For information regarding APA samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center, located within the Learning Resources tab on the left navigation toolbar in your online course. The EBSCOHost and PSYCinfo databases in the Ashford Online Library are helpful sources of information, as are the required and recommended resources found in your course materials. To locate EBSCOHost and PSYCinfo, visit the Ashford Online Library through the tab on the left navigation toolbar in your online course and select “Databases by Subject” and then “Psychology.” (For further assistance in researching scholarly sources, please access the tutorials page on the Ashford University Library website.)

The Community Center Proposal:

1.     Must be 6 to 8 double-spaced pages in length, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

2.     Must include a title page with the following:

·         Title of Community Center

·         Student’s name

·         Course name and number

·         Instructor’s name

·         Date submitted

3.     Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement, in which you introduce the topic and your Community Center.

4.     Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought within each of the designated age groups.

5.     Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis and thanks the mock city council for their time and consideration of your proposal.

6.     Must use at least 2 scholarly sources, including a minimum of 1 from the Ashford Online Library.

7.     Must document all sources in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Must include a separate reference page, formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Vulnerable mothers and children

Factors Affecting Vulnerability and Assessment of Needs
This week’s second discussion forum will focus on two selected groups:

    • Vulnerable mothers and children
    • People affected by alcohol and substance abuse

Review the video segments titled “Premature Babies: Risks and Costs” (Vulnerable Mothers and Children group) and “Social Cost of Alcohol Abuse” (People Affected by Alcohol and Substance Abuse group) through the Films On Demand database or in the textbook.

    • For each segment, select three specific factors from Chapter 2 (e.g., age, gender, culture, ethnicity, education, and income) that are present.
    • Reflecting on your experiences and knowledge gained in previous courses, discuss how these factors relate to the group’s vulnerability.
    • Based on the selected factors, assess the health care needs that can be inferred for each group. Discuss which approach(es) to care from Chapter 4, Section 4.1 (i.e., preventive, treatment, or long term), might help address them.

Your initial contribution should be 250 to 300 words in length. Your research and claims must be supported by a minimum of two scholarly sources beyond your course text.  Use proper APA formatting for in-text citations and references as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Creative Teaching: Designing Culturally Relevant Instruction

Creative Teaching: Designing Culturally Relevant Instruction

For the Final Project, you will assume the role of a classroom teacher applying for a $10,000 Teacher Creativity Fellowship Grant. This award provides financial resources to teachers, which allows the recipient to spend time during the summer months developing an instructional experience that will be implemented and evaluated during the upcoming fall semester. This year’s grant recipients are awarded funding on the condition they develop instructional experiences and programs to support the learning of 21st century skills, specifically, creative and innovative skills.
To further prepare for your Final Project, imagine you teach in a culturally diverse school, and you recognize a need to develop more culturally relevant instructional experiences that promote creative and innovative thinking. After carefully examining the information in the request for proposal for the grant described above, you realize the funding awards are based on the clarity and details of a ten-part form submitted for evaluation. After careful deliberation, you decide to apply for the grant to finance your time and help you obtain the resources needed to develop the proposed instructional experiences. A primary component of your plan requires consideration of the culture and specific needs of each child enrolled in your class (or one of your classes) for the upcoming semester.

WEEK 6 DISCUSSION (See Attached Files)

WELCOME to the discussion for WEEK 6. Please respond in complete sentences for each question, unless directed to do otherwise, demonstrating in your reply that you have read the material in order to receive full credit.

 Topic 1: The Digital Divide
This week you read Digital Divide in a Global Economy by Jack Lule

Discussion:
More than just a tool for information transfer, the Internet has become a conduit for a globalized workforce.  However, as the Internet has become integrated into daily business life, a digital divide has emerged. Some derive the benefits of Internet access, but many others do not.
Questions:

  1. Could the digital divide change the way people think about themselves in relation to the rest of the world? Provide experiences, observations, or references to Week 6’s readings that helped shaped your opinion.
  2. What barriers exist that make it difficult to close the digital divide in developing economies like India and China? What barriers exist in a developed country such as America?

Topic 2: Digital Natives Digital Immigrants

This week you read Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants by Mark Prensky

Discussion:
According to Prensky, today’s students are no longer the people our educational system was designed to teach.  Prensky also pointed out that there needs to be a switch in the way in which educators teach because students are losing out due to the “old fashioned” methods of teaching which are still being used today.
Question #1:
Do you agree that educators have to keep abreast of the technological changes and adjust the curriculum accordingly?  (justify and support your answer).

Posting instructions :

Please read this information extremely carefully:

  • Please include the topic number and title in your subject name for each discussion throughout the course.. For instance, Topic 2 Open World.   It has to be clear what you are answering so ensure you clearly label.
  • Do not attach answers or files in discussion unless directions state to do so.
  • You must respond in complete sentences for each question, unless directed to do otherwise. Ensure you answer each question within the topic as this week there are multiple questions in the topics.
  • Minimum Topic Response: Posts need to be at least a 70 words,  substantive and answer all parts.. If your reply for this question is less than 70 words and not substantive, you will lose points. You can use Microsoft Word to count the words in your response to make sure you have met the requirement.
  • 🙂  to indicate a smile and lol for laughter  is fine and I may use it myself from time to time in discussion.  I would give deductions for other text speak such as using “u” for “you” etc.
  • Each topic must be answered in a separate post.
  • Answer posted in an organized manner.
  • If references are used they need to be cited appropriately. Realize that to answer substantively you may need to do research and if so reference appropriately.
  • Do not in any discussions cover same topic/product/website  etc  for separate topics
  • After you post   please review it to make sure it is formatted correctly and is easy to read and has no spelling errors

These symptoms seem worse during her menses. Today, while playing in a golf tournament at a high, mountainous course, she became light-headed and was taken by her golfing partner to the emergency clinic. The attending physician’s notes indicated a temperature of 98 degrees F, an elevated heart rate and respiratory rate, and low blood pressure. Ms. A states, “Menorrhagia and dysmenorrheal have been a problem for 10-12 years, and I take 1,000 mg of aspirin every 3 to 4 hours for 6 days during menstruation.” During the summer months, while playing golf, she also takes aspirin to avoid “stiffness in my joints.”
