Part 1 – Project Scope Document

You will take on the role of Project Manager. As such, you will determine the project scope and project schedule for SuperPacks. This task has two parts. In the FIRST part, you will use the Project Scope Document Template to develop your project scope document. In the SECOND part, you will use Tab 2 of the Project Schedule Template to develop your project schedule and include it with your written analysis. Tab 2 will provide you with the unexpected events information needed to complete your analysis.

Develop the project scope document to include the following information:

• Project description
• Project assumptions
• Project goals
• Project constraints (if any)
• Project limitations
• Project milestones
• Project risks (initial assessment)

The Project Scope needs to be developed prior to any analysis of unexpected events.

Part 2 – Analysis of Unexpected Events

In this second part of your task as Project Manager, provide an analysis of unexpected events to your management using the Project Schedule Template (the unexpected events are located in Tab 2 of the document). In your analysis, you should discuss the following:

• Four areas affected by these unexpected events.
• Three of the areas of the project affected by the events should include changes to the budget, human capital, and impact to schedule.
• Identify one additional area affected by these events.

Work Breakdown Schedule

As the project manager, your role is to track and manage the projects you are working on; creating a Statement of Work and a Work Breakdown Structure are tools that can help you manage a project or projects. Below you will create a Statement of work consisting of the basics of the project(s) you are working on. Consider this similar to a business or marketing report, but this will define the project, project scope, and overall strategy of the project.

Part 3
Statement of Work (SOW) Document:

Develop the project Statement of Work document to include the following information:

• Business need
• Product scope description
• Strategic plan

Part 4
As part of your Statement of Work for your project, you will create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). The WBS allows for project managers to compose all tasks of the projects into smaller components to ensure a more manageable project(s).

• Find a real problem that a local company is facing or maybe that the school is facing, and formulate the problem and attempt to find the optimal solution. You may add the reference form where you get the problem definition.

Problem Example

A quick example could be that your school may have different printing locations (each location has different utilizations, I.e. location 1 is used significantly more than location 3) and different printer types around campus. In order to maximize the lifespan of the printer(so they save cost long term so they don’t have to replace it), they want to know how many printers should be placed at each location to maximize efficiency.

In Unit 2, you have learned about three different types of distributions: Normal, binomial, and Poisson. You can take data that you collect and plot it out onto graphs to see a visual representation of the data.  By simply looking at data on a graph, you can tell a lot about how related your observed data are and if they fit into a normal distribution.

For this submission, you will be given a series of scenarios and small collections of data. You should plot the data or calculate probabilities using excel. Then, you will create your own real or hypothetical scenario to graph and explain.

Your own example:
Choose a company that you have recently seen in the news because it is having some sort of problem or scandal, and complete the following:   Discuss the situation, and describe how the company could use distributions and probability statistics to learn more about how the scandal could affect its business.    If you were a business analyst for the company, what research would you want to do, and what kind of data would you want to collect to create a distribution?   Would this be a standard, binomial, or Poisson distribution?  Why?   List and discuss at least 3 questions that you would want to create probabilities for (e.g.,What is the chance that the company loses 10% of its customers in the next year?).    What would you hope to learn from calculating these probabilities?   Assuming that upper management does not see the value in expending the time and money necessary to collect data to analyze, make an argument (at least 100 words) convincing them that the expenditure is necessary and explaining some dangers the company could face by not knowing what the data predict. 

Use the “Translational Research Graphic Organizer Template” to compare three types of translational research with traditional (qualitative or quantitative) research. Make sure to include methodology, goals, and data collection in your organizer.

You are required to cite three to five sources to complete this assignment. Sources must be published within the last 5 years and appropriate for the assignment criteria and nursing content.
