Concept Map Assignment

Pick a topic related to a personal decision that you would like to map. For example, many students map out getting a new apartment as a decision. Pick another decision similar to this to illustrate on a concept map. Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word or PPT to create the concept map or this free tool: https://www.canva.com/graphs/concept-maps/

Students will create a concept map to illustrate his or her level of understanding of applying the scientific method to problem-solving and decision-making.

Concept mapping is a skill for business managers to use to communicate systems knowledge.  The ability to make decisions and problem solve using a framework and ethical lens is crucial for employees.  Since students typically do not have this experience in the workplace yet, the exploration of an important personal decision can help illustrate.

Problem solving and decision making skills are critical to gainful employment but also personal growth. These concepts are practiced throughout our lives.
