ESSAY: 7 Boxes (7 Cajas)
INTRO
With its chase sequences, colorful characters and stylish camera angles, 7 Boxes (7 cajas) is the one film that closely resembles a traditional action film. It is, in fact, far more fun than Nine Queens, and it brings much needed respite after that trip to the dark side of the human soul that was Post-Mortem.
By limiting the film’s action to this one place, a market that’s no different than any other open air market in Latin America (think El Chopito in Mexico), and by writing a substantial amount of the dialogue in guaranÃ, the indigenous language that belongs to the Tupi-Guaranà people and which is spoken by the majority of Paraguayans, directors Juan Carlos Maneglia and Tana Schémbori have created a distinctively Paraguayan film. They have also made great use of their limited resources to deliver an exciting film.
ASSIGNMENT
