The topic for my executive summary is sepsis
response huddles in the emergency department. Sepsis has risin into the top
five types of mortality in the emergency department. Early recognition and
treatment is crucial in treatment of sepsis and early recognition can stop the
high mortality rates of sepsis and associated infections causing mulit-organ
failure. Establishing a protocol including a huddle when a person presents with
suspected sepsis criteria would include the MD, the nurse and the charge nurse,
also included in the huddle wpould be laboratory. The members of the huddle
would meet face to face to plan treatment and management of each suspected
sepsis patient and to identify the high acuity of the particular patient.
