1. Assignment

Your second paper assignment is to write a response paper about Delbanco’s book: College:
What It Was, Is, and Should Be. You should focus on answering the following question:

What are the three most interesting, surprising, or thought-provoking insights
about college that I gained from reading Delbanco’s book? Explain why each
insight was meaningful to you.

You should aim to write approximately 1 to 1 ½ pages on each insight.

Each of your insights should be accompanied by one or two quotes from
Delbanco’s book. It is preferable to use short quotes that provide a starting point
for sparking your own ideas and insights.
Since this is a response paper, it is important to focus on your response to Delbanco’s book.
You should not simply summarize what Delbanco says in his chapters…I can read that for
myself!

2. Paper Format

Include your name and the seminar title at the top of the first page

4 – 5 pages in length

double-spaced type

1 inch margins

12-point Times New Roman font

Include page numbers

3. Citation Style

For the paper in this seminar, we will use the APA citation style developed by the America
Psychological Association.
